You've got a friend in me... Quick shout out to my boyfriend for inspiring me to blog again. Honestly Eric is my biggest fan and best friend in the world and I could not be more grateful for him. In September, I finally got to visit Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World (I am officially an Annual Passholder!) My brother Nick and I grew up watching Toy Story on repeat so this was a really exciting trip for me. I feel like Disney World is my escape. It is the best place to just "be a kid" and forget about school and adult-ing for a a minute.
For those of you who have not visited or are not familiar with Toy Story Land, Walt Disney World (WDW) imagineers designed this land to make you feel like you're a toy in Andy's backyard. And honestly we all did! It was amazing the detail that WDW put into this land, there were toys everywhere like blocks and tables made out of "Baby Bell Cheese". Fastpasses are the way to go for the Slinky Dog rollercoaster, which is 10/10, but the line is on average 1.5+ hours long.
Total side note, but I wore Converse High Tops... and ended up with mad blisters and purchasing overpriced Minnie Mouse flip-flops by the afternoon. While I absolutely adore my high tops, they just are NOT meant for the miles on miles you walked in WDW. Also for all my fellow type one diabetes readers, as you know our feet tend to swell easily. So I definitely recommend airy shoes because my feet were very swollen.
While we are on the subject, I was extremely nervous to take on WDW as a recently diagnosed type one diabetic. What I learned from my trip is to definitely stay hydrated! I drank water pretty much every hour. It is really important as a diabetic to be hydrated, especially in the Florida heat. Another tip is to check your blood sugars often, but especially while you are just sitting in lines! This is the perfect time to either test or check your monitor. That way if your blood sugars are dropping you know to stop for a snack (and trust me in WDW you're in the land of snacks) or if you are running on the high side you have plenty of time to add some insulin before you step on the ride! I hope these tips help you whether you are heading to a Disney park or any other amusement park. I really want to start sharing more about my type one diabetes and how I manage it.
Thank you for reading my blog and being such amazing supporters! I forgot how much fun it is to share with you all and look forward to sharing more content. Wishing an amazing week to you all!
Happy Tuesday! I was really thinking lately about my blog and the direction I want to take it. I was thinking about new layouts, filters, etc. when it hit me... I did not just start this blog to share my love of fashion and beauty with you all (which no worries, I still will!) But I started this blog to have an open platform to share my ups and downs with you all with life, my health (aka being a type one diabetic--while loving donuts & hating needles) and of course keeping in mind that just like me you all probably go through the same stuff.
I honestly have always lived my life with no regrets. I believe that everything I go through in life whether it be negative or positive is for a reason and helps me to grow as an individual. I am also incredibly lucky that I have amazing friends, a sweet boyfriend, and family members who have seen me and loved me through thick and thin.
I really want this blog to be a place where girls can go for more than the latest trends. I want this blog to be a place you can go to when you feel down on yourself and need to laugh; a place where you go to get some inspiration after a bad break up; a place where you can read my posts and be like wow! she gets me. A lot of bloggers out there make it look like they have the perfect life...and trust me none of us are perfect! We all have days we feel heftier than usual or don't want to get out of bed.
But always remember that there is a brighter tomorrow... I know that sound cliche, but trust me. Learn to surround yourself with people that are your "safe havens", so when things get stormy you have your rocks. Learn to love yourself, even when you aren't at your best, and realize you can improve. Never stop loving you and always put yourself in the way of happiness. I know it's easy to read this and think yeah it's easy to read, but harder to live out but trust me, make little changes for YOU and you'll see the difference.
There are so many people ready to see you fail and put you down, but always remember that people throw rocks at things that shine. Let it go in one ear and out the other. Replace their negative words with positive words in your head.
I hope that IAP is a place where you can not only get your daily dose of all things fashion, beauty, and lifestyle, but also a place where you feel inspired. Hope you all have an amazing week and cannot wait for all the posts to come. Thank you to my dedicated readers who have always loved and supported me and IAP! XO
Hello my lovely reader! Happy Sunday!
I am starting a new division on my blog called Sunday Chronicles. Consider this your "Sunday W(h)ine Down"...grab a glass of your favorite wine and take a look at my favorite sale picks for the week as well as my weekly "venting session".
In my inaugural Sunday Chronicles I want to discuss how people are freaking out that Prince Harry opened the car door for his lovely Princess Meghan this Saturday (aka the royal wedding). Is this what the world has come to in 2018? That a guy opening a door is a huge romantic gesture? This should be a standard thing. If a guy does not open doors for me on a date it is the biggest turn off. Nothing is less attractive than a man who doesn't have manners. Called me old fashioned, but I think we need to revert to the good old days when men were gentlemen and because I think we should not expect any less. Every man should be treated like a prince, and every woman should be treated like a princess in a relationship, dating, etc. So take notes from the royals, and always display your best manners and always expect the best manners from your handsome boyfriend/husband/date! Trust me girl, you deserve it! But, let me know what you think in the comments below!
I hope you all have an amazing week ahead of you! Please make sure you are subscribed and following me on both Facebook and Instagram for lots of fun content. Let me know what you want to see on IAP by commenting below or sending me a DM on Instagram! XO
